Our core business will always be the sourcing and servicing of locations for productions. But, to meet the needs of the times, we have developed a new service for the retail sector to help them meet their stills photography needs. Whilst we fully understand that high quality photography is still required, a new way of achieving this is going to be needed. How we all work is going to be influenced by recent events.
Overseas shoots will take a back seat for a little while. There will likely be a need for productions to look closer to home, giving an opportunity to search a little deeper into our own, wonderfully varied photographic landscape. Exterior locations may well be favoured over interiors. With many companies facing a new economic landscape within which to survive and hopefully succeed, traditional marketing and production budgets will be scrutinised more than ever. This, combined with social distancing as the new normal, means crews will need to be smaller, with more limitations on travel and overnight accommodation.
What The Westcountry Set can offer in a post-Covid world.
With these considerations in mind, we have got our heads together to create a new way of doing things. Well, actually, it is quite an old way of doing things…..Strip the process back and make things simple again. By reducing the paraphernalia, we can help lay the ground for some instinctive photography, shot in the perfect location for you, at the right time of day. We all know how good those B-Roll images are. With these new restrictions on all our lives and business, we’d love to embrace this model of shooting and make it work for you.
We have an incredible wealth of variety in our landscape, something for everyone.
We can help pick a visual canvas that works for you, and remotely tailor a story for it. We’ve created a full list of scenes that could play out at a number of our locations.
We can help cast it, style it and shoot it but with an authentic, documentary feel to it.
We would love to bring some of our extensive film background to this way of working. If you build the scene, with the right location and cast, something very special can happen. For this reason, we would love to talk to clients about using Directors of Photography with a film background, as well as established and recommended stills photographers. They can move invisibly around a scene, instinctively knowing both where to find the best frames, and the beautiful natural light. These are just a few ideas, but the nuts and bolts are that we want to make the best out of these new limitations.
